What Is Focusing?
  • Have you ever felt 'stuck' and wondered how to get 'unstuck'?

  • Have you ever felt "something" but couldn't quite put it into words yet?

  • Have you ever thought "I should've listened to my gut!"?

  • Have you ever sat in front of a new menu and chosen a food item based on what felt like the right choice for you?

  • Have you ever driven someplace and somehow listening to your body you knew how to get there?

I invite you now to:

Imagine you are driving down the highway trying to get to a venue that you've only been to a limited time.  Listening to GoogleMaps verbal prompts, you take the exit and start to drive taking the necessary turns on these somewhat confusing city streets. Suddenly, you're at a T-junction and your GoogleMaps loses signal (and though now it has the capacity to run offline), for some reason, yours isn't. So you're left to make a decision -- Do I take a Right or a Left here? You pause and check in with yourself. Waiting for your body to send you some sort of indication as to which way to go. And, suddenly, you feel it -- you're moved to take a Right turn here. And, within moments your GoogleMaps is back online and validates your 'felt sense' to turn Right was the RIGHT way!

FOCUSING-ORIENTED THERAPY

  • Dr. Eugene Gendlin, Founder of The Focusing Institute

  • Focusing-Oriented Therapy is a cutting-edge therapy that reflects all of the remarkable new insights into psychotherapy that have been sparked by the neuroscience revolution of the past 20 years. Mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) all utilize the connection between the mind and the inner bodily sense that Gendlin intuitively pioneered almost 60 years ago.
